The Buddha’s journey sought something far more difficult: an understanding of the human condition.
He walked away from wealth, power, and the comforts of a palace. He wandered from village to village, witnessing suffering firsthand. He studied with respected teachers and gurus. He embraced extreme self-denial, hunger, and discomfort.
Yet none of these, by themselves, brought enlightenment.
Only when he sat alone beneath a tree, with nothing left to prove and nowhere left to go, did his search reach its destination.
That image has always fascinated me.
To me, it symbolizes that truth cannot simply be handed from one person to another. It cannot be memorized from a book or borrowed from a teacher. It has to be experienced.
This mural is Shotcount’s artistic interpretation of that journey.
My own interpretation goes a step further. Rather than focusing on reincarnation after death, I see the Buddha’s story as an invitation to be reborn during our lifetime. Each time we discover a deeper truth about ourselves, we leave behind an older version of who we were and begin living differently.
Others understand Buddhist teachings differently, and this mural is not intended to define Buddhist doctrine. Instead, it explores one personal reflection inspired by the Buddha’s journey.
Perhaps that is why the Buddha is shown meditating alone.
Not because he had all the answers.
But because some truths cannot be taught—they can only be discovered.

This Shotcount artistic interpretation is inspired by the 1980s cult classic—a film where two men share dinner, but what unfolds is really a conversation about identity, purpose, and the invisible scripts that shape our lives.
André suggests that most of us are performing roles chosen for us by society, family, career, and circumstance. If that’s true, are we living authentically, or simply becoming convincing actors?
His friend resists the idea. Not because he has immediate answers, but because André’s questions threaten the foundations upon which he has built his life.
But suppose André’s vision were completely realized.
Would there still be engineers designing the bridges we cross? Would physicians devote years to mastering medicine? Would artists create, farmers produce food, or scientists pursue discoveries?
Perhaps civilization itself depends on people embracing their roles.
Maybe the better answer is not to reject the role, but to understand it.
A physician should inspire confidence. An engineer should think with precision. A teacher should guide with conviction. Society functions because people trust one another to fulfill these responsibilities.
The wisdom may lie in holding two ideas at once: play your part with excellence, while remembering that no profession, title, or social expectation is the entirety of who you are.

Under the Tuscan Sun answers these questions not by offering escape, but by showing that identity and healing are internal journeys. It isn’t really about running away—it’s about rebuilding an identity after it has been shattered. The house becomes more than a renovation project—it becomes a metaphor for rebuilding a life, one room at a time.
Many see the film as a story of female empowerment. Not because empowerment magically heals heartbreak, but because it reminds us that healing often begins when we discover we are capable of creating a meaningful life on our own. Confidence doesn’t erase pain; it gives us the strength to live alongside it until it slowly loses its hold.
The film ends with a beautiful sense of belonging in Tuscany. But it also leaves me wondering: what happens after the honeymoon phase? When the sunsets become ordinary, the neighbors familiar, and everyday routines replace the adventure?
Perhaps that’s the real ending the movie leaves us to imagine. Healing isn’t found in Tuscany. It isn’t found in a new passport or a new address. It’s found in becoming someone who can finally feel at home—wherever life takes you.
Maybe that’s the true renovation.

We are certified to install DeGournay Wallcovering. Special certification is required for expensive Wallcoverings that require precise pattern matching and special material treatment. We completed many prestigious projects in museums, art galleries, historic homes and restaurants. Until recently we started to expand online. Having an online presence has opened up new opportunities and new customer base. We still hold on to our traditions.
